Since the year 2003, The National Bingo Game and the Bingo Association have been supporting the Breakthrough for Breast Cancer. Each year in October, a fundraising event is held in order to raise money for the foundation and is called “Bingo for Breakthrough” week.
All across the UK, more than 400 clubs unite and all dedicate their bingo halls during a whole week in October to hold fundraising events for this honorable charity. All the major bingo halls stand firmly behind the National Bingo Game Asossiation and are doing their part to give a hand. A few examples are the Gala Bingo, Castle Bingo, Mecca Bingo, Buckingham Bingo and the Carlton Bingo, among others.
Since this partnership first started, the National Bingo Association has helped raise ₤2.75 million, and last year, only during the Bingo Breakthrough week, they were able to raise ₤500,000. This amount of money was really amazing for last year as the bingo industry is going through difficult times; in spite of this and thanks to the support of all the bingo clubs and the loyal bingo players, the raising of this large amount of money was possible.
The charity’s mission is to see a future that will be free from the fear of breast cancer, and it is due to this that support is needed from companies and also the public across the UK and the world to reach that goal. In the years 2005, 2006 and 2007 it won the distinguished and honored big tick award.
